After three games on the road, St. Anthony is heading back home. They will take on the Providence Catholic Provets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Providence Catholic took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Anthony, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, St. Anthony was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Augustine, taking the game 39-26.
St. Anthony relied on the efforts of Lisette Vargas, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks, and Laura Sierra, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Sierra is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Laura Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Providence Catholic's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight defeat. They were outmatched by St. Joseph at home and fell 54-14. Providence Catholic was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-8.
St. Anthony's win bumped their record up to 16-14. As for Providence Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 17 of their last 20 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-23 record this season.
St. Anthony took their win against Providence Catholic when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 62-37. Does St. Anthony have another victory up their sleeve, or will Providence Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
