McComb gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They won by a set and slipped past the Hardin Northern Polar Bears 3-2. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Polar Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

McComb was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (105-100), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-22, 25-19, 17-25, 16-14.

Hardin Northern's loss came despite strong showings from Alaina Thomas and Vivian Overs. Thomas had 25 digs and two assists, while Overs had 19 digs and five aces.

McComb has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against St. John's on the 19th. As for Hardin Northern, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Lima Senior on the 19th.
