The Hawley Bearcats entered their tilt with the Stamford Bulldogs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Hawley secured a 34-30 W over Stamford on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hawley also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Keagan Ables was his usual excellent self, throwing for 274 yards and three touchdowns. Ables hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games. Hawley also got help from Camden Ables who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why Stamford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaston Vega. Despite the final result, he rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown. Vega hasn't dropped below sixsolo tackles for five straight games.
Hawley's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.3 points per game. As for Stamford, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-1.
Hawley will head out on the road to face off against Cisco on Friday. As for Stamford, they will be playing at home against Colorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colorado will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1043rd, while Stamford is ranked 521st).
