Basketball Recap: Edgewood Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

With a playoff win on the line, Edgewood rose to the challenge on Monday. They snuck past the Pineapple Cove Classical Academy Patriots with a 62-56 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 41-38 back in November of 2024.

Caleb Trexler went supernova for Edgewood, almost dropping a triple-double on 13 points, 13 boards, and nine assists. The dominant performance gave Trexler a new career-high in rebounds. Aidan Gallaher was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Trexler wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Edgewood was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Pineapple Cove Classical Academy lost, don't look at Michael Barna. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 14 on his way to 20 points and four blocks. That was a full 35.7% of Pineapple Cove Classical Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Caudly Dieudonne, who earned nine points.

Edgewood's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Pineapple Cove Classical Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.

Edgewood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 81-26 defeat against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on the 5th. Pineapple Cove Classical Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
