The Calexico Bulldogs fell victim to the Brawley Wildcats''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Wildcats 40-0. While losing is never fun, Calexico can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 592nd, while Brawley is ranked 251st).
Brawley's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Matthew Gutierrez and his two sacks.
Calexico has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Brawley, their win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Calexico will take on Vincent Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Vincent Memorial will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Brawley, they will head out on the road to face off against Central at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 111 points over their last three matches.
