Terence Venable made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other batting news, Chris Mcleod was a standout: he scored four runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mikel Shade, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Randallstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Kenwood came up short against Parkville on Monday, falling 17-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Bluebirds in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost six in a row.
Kyle Morgan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Randallstown's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Kenwood, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Randallstown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kenwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
