Giltner is 8-2 against High Plains since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Giltner Hornets will be home for the holidays to greet the High Plains Storm. Hopefully Giltner focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday.
Giltner struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Tuesday (Nebraska Lutheran was 31% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Giltner was the victim of a tough 60-34 defeat at the hands of Nebraska Lutheran. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Giltner in their matchups with Nebraska Lutheran: they've now lost three in a row.
Defeat or not, Giltner got some senior leadership from Preston Larson who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and Taylor Smith who scored eight points. The game was Larson's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, High Plains scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Nebraska Christian with a sharp 61-41 win. The result was nothing new for High Plains, who have now won three contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Giltner's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for High Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Giltner beat High Plains 45-34 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Does Giltner have another victory up their sleeve, or will High Plains turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
