Mineral County hasn't had much luck against Virginia City recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Serpents will be playing in front of their home fans against the Muckers at 7:00 p.m. Mineral County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Mineral County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 62-0 victory over Coleville. Given the Serpents' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked seventh in Nevada, while the Wolves are ranked 97th in California) , the win last Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chase Reeves had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 82 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries, while also throwing for 167 yards and three TDs on only ten passes. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Serrato, who picked up 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Mineral County proved: they limited Coleville to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Quentin Isom for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mineral County didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 12.9.
Mineral County's defense didn't let Kegan Armold, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Christopher Orozco was the leader with two. Mineral County received some extra help from Orozco, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Virginia City had to suffer through a 42-14 loss at the hands of Carlin.
Mineral County will have to contain Caleb Olee as he made an impact in Virginia City's last game. He rushed for 183 yards and one score while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 50 receiving yards and one TD.
Mineral County's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Virginia City, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Mineral County might still be hurting after the 48-27 defeat they got from Virginia City in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Serpents, Angel Hipolito (who rushed for 333 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
