Mallory Geving made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Geving was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Frankie Wolfrom looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Fife let Ashlynn Monroe and Mallory Robson run wild. Monroe went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Robson went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was Monroe's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kaitlin Christiansen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Fife kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Eatonville came up short against Orting on Friday and fell 15-11. The Cruisers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Amy Tozier made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Kenney, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Eatonville now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Fife, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fife has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .502. However, it's not like Eatonville struggles in that department as they've averaged .484. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fife suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Eatonville when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
