The Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles will take on the Chesnee Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Gray Collegiate Academy is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chesnee in South Carolina (Gray Collegiate Academy is ranked 11th, while Chesnee is ranked 118th).
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gray Collegiate Academy walked away with it. They blew past Pelion, posting a 62-0 victory at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Gray Collegiate Academy's zero-point performance the matchup before.
Caleb Ford had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 151 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries. Michael Boulware made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Another reason for the win was Gray Collegiate Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 6.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Blaine Redmond and Zeb Taylor who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Chesnee gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Batesburg-Leesville by a score of 21-10. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Chesnee was the (much) better team in the second half.
Gray Collegiate Academy has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 12-3 record. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.27 points. As for Chesnee, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
