The Sonora Raiders waltzed into their contest on Friday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They put the hurt on Fullerton with a sharp 70-50 victory. Given Sonora's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Fullerton is ranked 606th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Baylor Wilks, who scored 15 points. Jordan Myvett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Fullerton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Sonora is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Fullerton, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sonora will take on Troy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Troy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. As for Fullerton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against La Habra at 7:00 p.m. La Habra will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
