If the Lincoln Lynx were feeling good off their 65-40 takedown of the Jefferson Yellowjackets last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lincoln was outmatched by the Black Raiders at home and fell 72-39. Lincoln was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-17.
Addie Naughton and Preslie Girres certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Naughton scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Girres scored five points. Another player making a difference was Lexie Pearce, who scored nine points.
Lincoln's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-9. As for Sioux City East, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
Lincoln won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Crusaders at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Bishop Heelan Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Sioux City East, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Warriors at 2:30 p.m.
