East Chapel Hill is 0-5 against Southern Alamance since February of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The East Chapel Hill Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Southern Alamance Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
East Chapel Hill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 54-32 loss at the hands of Apex Friendship. While losing is never fun, East Chapel Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Apex Friendship is ranked 71st).
Despite the loss, East Chapel Hill got a solid performance out of Abigail Stone, who scored 15 points along with 3 steals. Stone scored a full 46.9% of East Chapel Hill's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephanie Proa?o, who scored 3 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
East Chapel Hill struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Apex Friendship racked up 12.
Meanwhile, Southern Alamance's game on Wednesday was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 41-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southeast Alamance.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Morgan Edmunds, who scored 10 points. Madison Brouillard was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
The losses dropped East Chapel Hill to 2-4 and Apex Friendship to 3-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: East Chapel Hill have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 31% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Southern Alamance, though, as they've only made 0% of theirs this season. Given East Chapel Hill's sizeable advantage in that area, Southern Alamance will need to find a way to close that gap.
