It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Lake Travis Cavaliers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-10 win over Vandegrift. The win was familiar territory for Lake Travis who now have three in a row.
Lake Travis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nico Hamilton out in front who rushed for 130 yards. Kadyn Leon did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 172 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Vandegrift to a paltry 169 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Lake Travis' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Everett Underhill and his two sacks.
Lake Travis has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Vandegrift, their loss dropped their record down to 10-1.
Lake Travis will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. One thing working in Johnson's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three contests. Vandegrift does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
