Iota is a perfect 10-0 against Church Point since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Iota will be playing in front of their home fans against Church Point at 6:30 p.m. The last three games Iota has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Iota and Port Barre had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Iota fell just short of Port Barre by a score of 4-3 on Monday. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Church Point entered their tilt with Northwest on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Raiders 12-1. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly 11 runs.
Ethan Little was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Jack Venable was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season.
Church Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Church Point's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Iota, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Everything went Iota's way against Church Point in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Iota made off with a 10-3 victory. Does Iota have another victory up their sleeve, or will Church Point turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
