The Happy Camp Indians's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against Surprise Valley by a score of 43-34. That's another feather in the cap for Happy Camp, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Happy Camp found their leader in underclassman Jean Wright, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Wright is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jason Day was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Casey Grove, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kevin Castillo, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Happy Camp's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Surprise Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Happy Camp will be playing at home against Butte Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Butte Valley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Surprise Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Hayfork at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hayfork will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
