Football Recap: Shelby Skates Past Lincolnton with Ease + How To Watch

It's playoff time, and Shelby had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 30-0 victory over the Lincolnton Wolves. Considering the Golden Lions have won ten games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shelby to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lan Farmer, who threw for 228 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 83 yards. Farmer's passing game has become a key predictor of the Golden Lions' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Another rusher making a difference was Jonas Woods, who rushed for 144 yards and two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Shelby was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 259 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Shelby's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Landon Hollifield and Grady Nodine, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Shelby got some further help from Hollifield: he picked up 1.5 sacks, made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Shelby's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.8 points. As for Lincolnton, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-3.

Looking ahead, Shelby will host Kinston at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Golden Lions' defense better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 37.5 points per game this season. Lincolnton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
