The Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders and the Cardinal Hayes Cardinals squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 29-26. It was the first time this season that Archbishop Stepinac let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Archbishop Stepinac lost, one person who can't be blamed is Will Currid. Despite the final result, he threw for 225 yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Archbishop Stepinac's defense sure didn't make it easy: Cardinal Hayes' QB was sacked four times before it was all said and done. Cardinal Hayes' QB won't forget Gabe Duran anytime soon given Duran sacked him twice.
Archbishop Stepinac's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Cardinal Hayes, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Archbishop Stepinac does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cardinal Hayes is on the road again on Saturday and play against Iona Prep at 7:00 p.m. on November 18th. Iona Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Cardinal Hayes likes a good challenge.
