Cottonwood is 5-0 against the Buffaloes since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Cottonwood Colts will head out on the road to challenge the Tooele Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. Cottonwood is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
Last Tuesday, Cottonwood didn't have too much trouble with the Spartans on the road as they won 50-32.
Cottonwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carley Caton, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Isabella Morris, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Tooele suffered a rough 61-40 loss at the hands of the Beetdiggers on Tuesday. Tooele was down 47-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Tooele saw an underclassman step up: Kennedy Searle scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Searle is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Kennedy, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Cottonwood is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Tooele, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Cottonwood have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Tooele struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Cottonwood's way against the Buffaloes in their previous meeting back in January as the Colts made off with a 56-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cottonwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
