 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Riley Soares, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-3.  Taylor Rae was another key contributor,  going 2-for-4 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 Valley Regional's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Cromwell, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Regional will  challenge Haddam-Killingworth at 3:45  p.m.  on Monday. Haddam-Killingworth's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4  runs per game  this season, so Valley Regional's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cromwell, they will head out on the road to  take on  North Branford at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. North Branford will roll in looking for their  fifth straight  win, something Cromwell surely won't give up without a fight.
