The Vienna Eagles will challenge the Galatia/Thompsonville Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Vienna didn't have quite enough to beat Hamilton County and fell 16-15. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Foxes: they've now lost six in a row.
Rayonna Ridley was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayva Rush, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Galatia/Thompsonville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Egyptian as Galatia/Thompsonville made off with a 21-3 win. Fans of the Bearcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Lanie Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Kailyn Kahl was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. Miley Murphy was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Galatia/Thompsonville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Egyptian only posted an OBP of .333.
Vienna's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Galatia/Thompsonville, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Vienna took their win against Galatia/Thompsonville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 17-0. Does Vienna have another victory up their sleeve, or will Galatia/Thompsonville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
