It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Cuthbertson Cavaliers can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Porter Ridge on Friday, falling 41-0. Cuthbertson has not had much luck with Porter Ridge recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Parker Burke threw for 76 yards on nine of 16 attempts. Logan Vail was his top target, picking up 46 receiving yards.
Jared Lockhart looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 120 yards on only ten carries, while also throwing for 138 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. Jatavien Taylor made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Cuthbertson to a paltry 103 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Porter Ridge's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Ben Parcewski was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Cuthbertson has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Porter Ridge, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Cuthbertson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Porter Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Hough at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hough is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
