It was a good run, but Maiden unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Burke Cavaliers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-69 back in December of 2024.
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Khiara Culliver, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Culliver is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Willow Bass, who posted 11 points and five assists.
East Burke was led to victory by Kara Brinkley and Braelyn Stilwell. Brinkley dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Stilwell dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists. With that strong performance, Brinkley is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Journi McDowell, who had five points.
Maiden's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3. As for East Burke, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.
