It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the John Champe Knights had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 35-28 win over the Vikings. The win was familiar territory for John Champe who now have ten in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead John Champe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dominic Plush, who threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Greg Spiller, who gained 170 total yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Loudoun Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alex Johnson. Despite the final result, he threw for 123 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 89 yards on only ten carries. Cole Kielhorn was another key contributor, picking up 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
John Champe's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Loudoun Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
John Champe will head out on the road to face off against Tuscarora at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Tuscarora will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Loudoun Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
