The Orland Trojans had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past Las Plumas 57-20 on the road. The result was nothing new for Orland, who have now won six matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.
Orland was led to victory by Manny Rodriguez and Diego Rico. Rodriguez gained 204 total yards and four touchdowns, while Rico rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Rodriguez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Orland also got a significant boost from Allan Ortega, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Orland's win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 6-1. As for Las Plumas, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orland will take on Corning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Corning will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 670th, while Orland is ranked 265th). As for Las Plumas, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Gridley at 7:30 p.m. Gridley will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
