Moon Area scored a shocking upset when it eliminated Central Valley, 38-21. At the time, the Warriors were ranked 21st in the state, while the Tigers were 102nd.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Moon Area, who defeated 21st ranked Central Valley, 38-21.
Tynen Greer was a passing and rushing force as Montour topped Chartiers Valley. He completed 10 passes for 173 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 89 yards. Greer's key target this week was Tyler Carswell, who caught 6 passes for 104 yards.
Stephan McGinnis was a force in the backfield as Ambridge topped Hopewell.
Carswell was the best wideout in WPIAL AAA Parkway this week as the Spartans beat the Colts. Carswell racked up 6 receptions for 104 yards. Christian Tanny helped Montour's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 42 yards.
On the heels of Andrew Koester and Chayse Dillon, West Allegheny has had great success on offense. Koester leads the league in passing with 658 yards, while Dillon has rushed for 660 yards this season. Montour's DJ Payne leads the league in receiving yards with 279 on 13 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place West Allegheny takes on second place New Castle. The Indians defeated Steel Valley last week, while New Castle bested Blackhawk.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, West Allegheny beat the Ironmen 55-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
