Basketball Recap: Joshua Knapp's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Konos Academy over New Creation Christian Academy

Konos Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-58 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Creation Christian Academy Crusaders. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Condor this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-63 back in November of 2024.

Konos Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Joshua Knapp, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 boards gave Knapp a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Knapp, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points.

Even though they lost, Konos Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Konos Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for New Creation Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Konos Academy will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Central Christian at 6:00 p.m. Konos Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season. As for New Creation Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Community Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
