The Community Christian Cyclones came tearing into Thursday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Hobgood Charter with points to spare, taking the game 68-54. Given Community Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Hobgood Charter is ranked 550th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tavares Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Evan Gattis was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists and two steals.
Community Christian pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home. As for Hobgood Charter, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Gramercy Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Gramercy Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Tuesday. Hobgood Charter won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Columbia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 189 points over their last three matches.
