Jozi Thompson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kenzie Coble was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Makenna Bennett also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Kentridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stadium only managed five hits.
Auburn Riverside never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mt. Rainier on Wednesday. They blew past the Rams 12-2. Considering the Ravens have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Makenna Vircks looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Seneca Aarstad was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Potter, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Kentridge pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Auburn Riverside, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kentridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Auburn Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Kentridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Auburn Riverside in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
