Baseball Recap: St. Bede Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

St. Bede had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Dwight on Tuesday. The Bruins blew past the Trojans 8-1. Considering the Bruins have won six games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gus Burr was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Carson Riva was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

St. Bede hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

St. Bede pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Dwight, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6.

Coming up, Dwight will head out to face off against Serena at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Bede will be paying especially close attention to the Trojans' contest: after the Trojans faces off against the Huskers, they'll take on St. Bede again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
