The La Costa Canyon Mavericks will be playing at home against the St. Augustine Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: La Costa Canyon has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while St. Augustine will arrive with three straight wins.
Two weeks ago, La Costa Canyon came up short against Torrey Pines and fell 27-17.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, St. Augustine rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mira Mesa 37-10 at home. The result was nothing new for St. Augustine, who have now won five matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Augustine to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Palmer, who threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes. Another player making a difference was Honor Faalave-johnson, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to St. Augustine's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Bronx Letuligasenoa and his two sacks.
La Costa Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for St. Augustine, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 7-4 record.
