Softball Recap: Harrison Has No Trouble Against Rye

Harrison won the last time they faced Rye and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Huskies blew past the Garnets 14-2.

Madison Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, AlexiA CozzAli and Olivia Vasti did most of the damage at the plate: Cozzali scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Vasti went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave Cozzali a new career-high. Sofia Pinilla was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Harrison now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Rye, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Harrison is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Walter Panas at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rye, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mahopac at 4:30 p.m. on the 28th.
