The Oak Hill Raiders will take on the Mountain Valley Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
On Monday, Oak Hill got the win against Madison by a conclusive 12-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.
Izzy Whitaker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Whitaker was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Wood, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Olivia French was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Mountain Valley made easy work of Telstar on Tuesday and carried off a 21-8 win. Considering the Falcons have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Layce Boucher was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ali Mazza, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.
Mountain Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got Oak Hill back to even at 6-6. As for Mountain Valley, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
