The Sharyland Rattlers lost against the McAllen Memorial Mustangs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sharyland fell 44-37 to McAllen Memorial. Sharyland has not had much luck with McAllen Memorial recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Sharyland's loss came despite strong showings from Mia Bargas and Alivia Ames. Bargas scored 13 points, while Ames scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ames has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McAllen Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Borjas, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Jayden Pinkard was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Sharyland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which is still a better percentage than their 6-20 record this season. As for McAllen Memorial, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 20-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sharyland will take on Rowe at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rowe presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sharyland in Texas (Rowe is ranked 424th, while Sharyland is ranked 1143rd). As for McAllen Memorial, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Valley View at 6:00 p.m.
