The Zanesville Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 47-32 to Licking Heights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Zanesville of the 47-29 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Loss or not, Zanesville got some senior leadership from Jersey Draughn and Rylee McCuen. Draughn scored 13 points, while McCuen. scored four points along with five steals. That was a full 40.6% of Zanesville's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Zanesville's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Licking Heights, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Zanesville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Muskingum at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st. West Muskingumpresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Zanesville in Ohio (West Muskingum is ranked 137th, while Zanesville is ranked 608th). As for Licking Heights, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Centerburg at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Centerburg will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Licking Heights surely won't give up without a fight.
