The Ponderosa Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 88-51 victory over Sand Creek on the road. The win was familiar territory for Ponderosa who now have nine in a row.
Ponderosa was led to victory by Noah Wilhelm and Dylan Karsteter. Wilhelm scored 23 points along with five rebounds, while Karsteter dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Wilhelm's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Keach, who scored 18 points.
Several Scorpions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wuol Chak, who scored ten points. Josh Kotto was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Ponderosa's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Sand Creek, they bumped their record down to 3-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Ponderosa will take on Northfield at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northfield has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 671 points over their last nine games. Sand Creek won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pueblo Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Pueblo Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 back in December of 2023.
