The Quitman Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 68-44 margin over Mendenhall. The victory was just what Quitman needed coming off of a 52-31 defeat in their prior matchup.
Quitman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jahyla Dubuse, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. AUDRIANA HARRIS was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Quitman is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Mendenhall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quitman will square off against Newton at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newton is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Quitman a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Mendenhall, they will head out on the road to face off against Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Forest is ranked 91st, while Mendenhall is ranked 90th).
