The Clearview Clippers came into Tuesday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Vermilion by a score of 62-54 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Clearview also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Clearview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cy Christensen led the charge by scoring 22 points. Another player making a difference was Jai Walton, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Vermilion still got an impressive performance from Riley Kearns, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Kearns is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Brock Meyers was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Clearview's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10. As for Vermilion, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Clearview will head out on the road to challenge the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: John Kray and Keith Colvin. As for Vermilion, they will be playing at home against the Polar Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Margaretta presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Sailors in Ohio (the Polar Bears are ranked 108th, while the Sailors are ranked 657th).
