St. Mary entered their tilt with the Regents Academy Eagles with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. St. Mary's came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 71-60 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
St. Mary's had a senior duo take command as Taylor Darnell scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals and Evan Hodge scored 23 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Darnell has scored all season. Blanton Mansfield was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Regents Academy had strong showings from Stephen Crescenzo, who scored 16 points, and Ethan Spradley, who scored 15 points. It was the first time this season that Crescenzo scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Liam Shipp, who scored nine points.
St. Mary's pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Regents Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will face off against the Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Athens Christian Preparatory Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. As for Regents Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
