Baseball Recap: Wickenburg Extends Winning Streak to Three

Wickenburg barely beat Kingman Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wranglers were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Tigers on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Wranglers, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Zane Echols made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Larry Wilcox, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hazen Jones, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Wickenburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingman Academy struck out seven times.

The win (which was Wickenburg's third in a row) raised their record to 8-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Kingman Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wickenburg will head out to take on Chandler Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wranglers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Kingman Academy, they will square off against Northland Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
