The Westbury Huskies had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 61-55 win over Westgate on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Westbury's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 919th in Texas, while Westgate is ranked 257th in Louisiana).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westbury to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nicholas Homer, who scored 15 points. Lepaul Warren was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Westbury's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Westgate, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Westbury will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Heights at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. As for Westgate, they will be playing at home against Patterson on Thursday.
