The Agua Fria Owls will head out on the road to face off against the Cactus Shadows Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-22, which was the final score in Agua Fria's tilt against Apollo on Friday. Agua Fria was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.
Meanwhile, Cactus Shadows' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 42-14 defeat at the hands of Horizon. Cactus Shadows was down 35-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Cactus Shadows got a solid performance out of Donivan Dixon, who rushed for 108 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns. Noah Brouse was another key contributor, picking up 71 receiving yards and a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Agua Fria and nudges their season record down to 6-3. As for Cactus Shadows, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6.
Agua Fria took a serious blow against Cactus Shadows when the teams last played back in November of 2020, falling 33-0. Can Agua Fria avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
