North Fort Myers is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Charlotte a 10-0 shutout. The Red Knights have beaten the Fightin' Tarpons the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Fightin' Tarpons has come to flipping the script.
Abigail Hynes was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Mia Lane was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
North Fort Myers hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charlotte struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Fort Myers entered their tilt with Northeast on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Vikings.
Lolly Lane made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lane was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Fort Myers let Gianni Torres and Amira Peterson run wild. Torres went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Peterson went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Peterson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sage Rodmyre, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
North Fort Myers' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Fort Myers, their win bumped their record up to 22-6-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. North Fort Myers hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Fort Myers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
