Basketball Recap: South Lenoir Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

It was a good run, but South Lenoir unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakewood Leopards. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Leopards are ranked 208th).

South Lenoir lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kamarion Graham, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 14 points and four steals. Jacob Howard was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Lakewood found their leader in freshman Xavier Hall, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 14 boards, and ten blocks. Those ten blocks set a new season-high mark for Hall. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

South Lenoir's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2. As for Lakewood, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

South Lenoir didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-42 defeat against Kinston on the 3rd. As for Lakewood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 54-47 win against Midway on the 3rd.
