Boardman got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They put the hurt on the Howland Tigers with a sharp 71-48 win on Friday. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season.
Howland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Chieffo, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Burgess, who put up six points and five assists.
Boardman's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-5. As for Howland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.
