After flying high against the Northridge Grizzlies last Saturday, the Frederick Golden Eagles came back down to earth. Frederick took a 71-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Skyline. The matchup was a 39-39 toss-up at halftime, but Frederick was outscored by Skyline in the second.
Frederick's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ian Buffington, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and JJ Strojinc who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Strojinc pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jovan Aldana was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Talan Starcevich continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Skyline, scoring 27 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Erives, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Frederick's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Skyline, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Frederick will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Severance at 5:00 p.m. As for Skyline, they will head out on the road to take on Mountain View at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Thursday.
