Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Carter's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln, Carter was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Wilmer-Hutchins Eagles 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won eight matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Matisse Edward was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Edward was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, Chancecellia McCray and Jalissa Silas did most of the damage at the plate: McCray scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Silas scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Silas has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Kenadi Langdon was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Carter has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.2 runs over those games. As for Wilmer-Hutchins, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carter will venture away from home to take on Conrad at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wilmer-Hutchins, they will head out to square off against Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
