The Villages Charter Buffalo will be playing in front of their home fans against the Forest Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Villages Charter's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Forest's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The Villages Charter made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Tavares, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Villages Charter put the hurt on Tavares with a sharp 10-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Buffalo have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Alexis Swetnam and Lexy Sanchez did most of the damage at the plate: Swetnam went 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple, while Sanchez scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Sanchez has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Foley, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: The Villages Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, Forest can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Charlotte a 4-0 shutout.
Not much got past Makenna Boyd, who gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Charlotte off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaiden Prestipino, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Savannah Langworthy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
The Villages Charter pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Forest, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
The Villages Charter beat Forest 6-1 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will The Villages Charter repeat their success, or does Forest has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
