The Brookfield Warriors were the 74-36 winner over the Pymatuning Valley Lakers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Brookfield fell just short of Pymatuning Valley by a score of 45-42. Brookfield found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post eight fewer assists than your opponent.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marae Craig, who scored nine points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Cailey Wellman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Pymatuning Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zoey Painter out in front who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jolene Sharpe, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Brookfield's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-13. As for Pymatuning Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.
Brookfield will head out on the road to challenge Newton Falls at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Brookfield is coming into the game with five straight defeats on the road, meaning Newton Falls will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Pymatuning Valley, they will be playing at home against Jefferson Area at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
