There's no place like home for the Decatur Community Red Devils, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-37 victory over Dighton on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Decatur Community, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Decatur Community's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamryn Oien, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds. Brylee Minnick was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Dighton had strong showings from Rylee Myers, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds, and Lani Speer, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Myers scored 15 or more points.
Decatur Community has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Dighton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Decatur Community will take on Greeley County at TBD on Friday. Hopefully Decatur Community focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
